After narrowly escaping with a victory against Walter Johnson last week, the football team had no trouble with another of the county’s cellar-dwellers Richard Montgomery; the Bulldogs cruised to a 42-7 victory Sept. 25.
CHS came out firing, a 53-yard pass from senior Alex Kantor to senior Matt Risk put the Bulldogs up 7-0 on the first drive of the game. Later in the first quarter, senior Ryan Quinn capped off a a Bulldog drive by pounding in a 17-yard touchdown run, part of a 116-yard game. One Quinn touchdown run later, the Bulldogs held a 21-0 lead at the half.
The rest of the game was all about the defense. In the third quarter, junior Jake Sickels brought back a interception 44 yards for a touchdown in his first start of the season. Senior Anish Bhatia put in the Bulldogs’ final score by recovering a fumble and running it back 36 yards for a touchdown. Richard Montgomery was able to get one touchdown, but by then it was far to late as CHS walked away with an easy 42-7 victory.
CHS will host Northwest Oct. 2 as the homecoming game where they will look to improve to 5-0 going into their Oct. 9 matchup against archrival Wootton.
