With AP exams and spring sports finishing up, most WCHS students probably haven’t given much thought to Mother’s Day, this Sunday, May 14. Mothers around the nation will be receiving greeting cards and flowers. For most moms, those tried and true gifts are perfect, but creative gift givers might appreciate more unique suggestions. Here are seven ideas to thank all the moms for all their hard work.

Snack Basket:
Moms do a lot for their children, and oftentimes, they don’t have a chance to sit down and eat a snack. Baskets of snacks can be homemade or purchased on websites like Harry & David or Etsy. Whether it’s baked goods, salty snacks or sweet treats, moms will definitely thank you for feeding into their cravings.

Comfy Slippers:
Anyone who wears a pair of fuzzy slippers can be mentally transported to a spa the second they put them on. You can find a selection of these comfy shoes from UGGS or Bearpaw. These are perfect for work, just waking up or even a fancy dinner.

Family Board Game:
This is for the moms who love planning bonding activities with their kids. Games like Settlers of Catan and Trivial Pursuit are great activities to keep families playing together for hours. If your mom constantly talks about wanting to get the family together, some friendly competition is the perfect way to do so.

Dyson Airwrap:
By far one of the more expensive and highly coveted gifts, this must-have beauty tool uses high-end technology to make it look like hair was professionally styled. If you have over $500 to spend on a gift, mothers will appreciate their hair being styled like a celebrity.

Plan a Spa Day:
Treat your mom to a relaxing spa day so she can indulge in some much-needed pampering. Book a massage, facial or any other treatments that she would enjoy. The spa atmosphere will provide a peaceful and rejuvenating experience for her, and she’ll feel refreshed and energized after. . This is a great gift idea that shows your mom that you care about her well-being and want her to take some time to herself.

Cook a Homemade Meal:
Cooking your mom a homemade meal is a thoughtful and personalized way to show your love and appreciation. You could prepare her favorite dish or try out a new recipe that you think she would enjoy. Take the time to set the table nicely, light some candles and create a cozy atmosphere. This is a great way to spend quality time with your mom, and she’ll appreciate the effort you put into making the meal.

Gift an Experience:
Rather than giving your mom a physical gift, consider gifting her an experience. This could be anything from a concert or show tickets, a wine tasting, a cooking class or a day trip to a nearby town or attraction. The experience will create memories that she will cherish for years to come. Better yet, plan the experience for the both of you, to show that you value spending time together and creating new experiences.

Mothers do a lot for their children and don’t ask for much in return. Even if you are not able to get your mom a gift, make sure to show her your love and appreciation every day, and most especially on this holiday.
