Tis the season of gift giving! Here are some ideas for gifts to give your close friends and family.

As the holidays roll around the corner, gift-giving becomes more last-minute. What one had hoped to be a new fun product or sports equipment turned into a new pair of socks – sadly, the same brand and color from last year. Help spice up the presents you are giving (or even your wishlist!) with these tailor-made gift suggestions!

The Academic Weapon

Every time you call your friend, they are at their desk working. First, MV Calculus homework. Then, AP Lit homework. The grind does not stop for them. What do you get someone that can be described as “scholarly?” Here is what:

  1. Productive AF Notepad
  2. Funny To Do Lists Notepad Assorted Pack
  3. Headphones
  4. Compare Personalized Photo Wall & Desktop Calendars | Snapfish US to organize their life

The Taylor Swift Lover

You definitely know a few of them and their “Style”. They were not at school on Nov. 15; some were not even there on Nov. 16, due to “The Great War”. Taylor Swift is part of their personality and everyone knows it “All Too Well”. Here are gifts that could never disappoint them:

  1. Tote bag or a keychain
  2. Anything on: https://store.taylorswift.com/
  3. Lessons in Chemistry: A Novel: Garmus, Bonnie
  4. Every Summer After: Fortune, Carley

And, for the people that chose Harry in the divorce: Harry tote.

The Person Who Already Has Everything

Honestly, having a friend who is one of these people is incredibly difficult. You have zero ideas of gifts to give them, because every single idea is followed by “I think they have that…” Here are some things that, hopefully, they do not have:

  1. Something from Inkbox
  2. Fujifilm QuickSnap Flash Camera
  3. Skims Socks
  4. Classic Lava Lamp

The Gamer/Homebody

Game nights are their favorite nights and they love comfort. Staying home is their favorite thing, and they cannot wait till the next holiday break to spend it indoors. Here are some options to enhance their nights.

  1. We’re Not Really Strangers Card Game – an Interactive Adult Card Game
  2. Headphones
  3. Memory Foam Floor Chair
  4. Bean Bag Chair

The Athlete

Basketball. Baseball. Football. Golf. Lacrosse. If they do not play one of these sports, maybe check under “The Gamer” or “The Academic Weapon”. While they are not too hard to shop for, buying something athletic that they do not have is the most difficult. Hopefully one of these items will suffice.

  1. Nike Sportswear Tech Fleece Men’s Full-Zip Hoodie. Nike.com
  2. Sports equipment
  3. Tickets to UMD basketball, Wizards game, or Georgetown basketball games
  4. Gift card to Dicks Sporting Goods

The Hoarder

Do NOT get this person any more “junk!” It will end up under their bed, in the back of their closet, or lying in the middle of their floor. Here are a few gifts to subtly hint to them that they should probably clean their room.

  1. Flowers and a nice vase
  2. A planned outing together: to a movie, show, dinner, brunch, etc.
  3. Mini Plastic Baskets
  4. Tidy the F*ck Up: The American Art of Organizing Your Sh*t

The Parent

They always show up at your sporting events, drive you everywhere and are your number one fan. But, what do you gift them? Nothing is good enough. Hopefully, some of these will begin to show your appreciation.

  1. Framed photo of you (and your siblings)
  2. A homemade (or even store bought) card
  3. Williams Sonoma Oven Gloves
  4. Fancy restaurant in DC night out

Gift giving during the holidays can definitely be a challenge. A challenge that usually turns into a new sock collection for the giftee. Hopefully, this gift guide will help you turn the holidays around and surprise your family with amazing, thoughtful gifts that do not break the bank!
