Members of Blast Perform at Rio

By Arielle Gordon and Thomas Atkinson

Student performers in Blast 26: Opposition, performed at Rio shopping center in Gaithersburg March 14 to advertise their upcoming shows.

“We thought of presenting some songs somewhere,” parent volunteer Veronica Espinoza said. “We mentioned Montgomery Mall and then I remembered that Jazz Ambassadors last year performed at Rio. That is how the idea of doing it at Rio came about.”

Because of the stage at Rio, the student were unable to perform multiple numbers.

“The outdoor stage that Rio has is small, so Mr. Albright, Mrs. Testa & I needed to decide on what songs could be able to perform in that size of stage, and who was free to perform that weekend,” Espinoza said. “So after going back and forth with availabilities of the cast we had a list.”

Even though it was cold and windy, the performances were not impacted.

“Performing is always a great experience,” senior Shreya Navile said. “Despite the windy weather, I had fun with my friends and because of all the support around us.”

Blast 26: Opposition will be preformed at CHS Friday March 27 and Saturday March 28 at 7:30 p.m.
