Addicting and thrill inducing perfectly describe the second season of Netflix’s original series Stranger Things.

The first episode of the multiple Emmy winning award show was aired on July 15, 2016. Set in the fictional town Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980’s, season one of the show investigates the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) while a telekinetic girl known as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) changes their surroundings. In search of their best friend Will, Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) discover an unknown world called “The Upside Down.”

“The first season was amazing,” junior Gideon Molkner said. “The show had a lot of surprises and twists and has you hooked as soon as the first episode is over.”

The new season kicks off in the year 1984 right before Halloween, a year after Eleven has disappeared. As we saw at the end of season one, Will is still facing hallucinations of “The Upside Down.” The four best friends are struggling to get back to normal as a new character Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) appears and changes the dynamic of the group.

“So far I’m really liking it,” junior Charlie Butchko said. “The plot is developing really quickly and it’s super intense.”

A new and unexpected bromance forms between Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and Dustin, which let’s be real, made us love him even more. Although Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Steve are over, the relationship of Nancy and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) emerges and definitely makes up for it.

“I love the relationship Steve has with them because he’s like an older brother to them,” junior Mali Hajaghaei said. “Dustin didn’t have a positive male figure in his life but now he has Steve.”

A new bad boy and bully comes in the picture and challenges Steve, the so called “king.” Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) stepbrother to Max, draws the attention of all the girls at school and has even attracted the eyes of Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono), the mom of both Nancy and Will. His bad boy character gives the show a new sense of rebellion.

“I think that his character adds an older figure to replace Barbara,” junior Karenna Nambiar said. “His character is rude and obnoxious though.”

This season includes many top hits from the 80’s including “Rock You Like a Hurricane” from Scorpions to Duran Duran’s “Girls on Film” and Kenny Rogers’ “Islands in the Stream.”

“I really love the song choices on the show because I like 80’s music,” Butchko said.

A third season is being talked about, but because of the growing demand of the talented actors and actresses, it might be difficult to have the whole cast together again at the same time. The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that when and if the third season premieres, the show will have another time jump to keep up with its growing cast members.

“A third season would be the best and I cannot wait to see what else is gonna happen because it’s my favorite show,” Hajaghaei said.

Get ready for a night of binge watching because you’re not going to be able to take your eyes off the screen!
