PSAT Memes

Sophomores and Juniors took the PSATs on Oct. 19, 2016.

On the test, students had to sign a contract promising that the questions and answers would not be talked about outside of the booklet. Despite this, high school students from around the country have posted memes about the PSAT all over social media.

The people who are uploading the memes could be in some serious trouble with any college board. Their scores could possibly be invalidated. The contract is a key part to the test so one can reveal anything. However, some students believe that it won’t affect their scores.

“I don’t think anything will happen because it’s not anyone’s job to enforce it,” sophomore Nikita Korolev said about the test scores. “People can do what they want.”

Most of the memes were about people decided to answer questions when they were in confusion or what they thought of the passages. The content of the jokes were mostly exaggerated to reach a certain level of humor and relation to the audience.

“I almost started crying because they were so funny,” Korolev said.

Controversy had spread all throughout social media because of the confidential contract. If the College Board does eventually take action about it, then it will a great impact all around the country with thousands of people’s scores becoming a zero.

According to a 2016 Washington Post article, the internet won over a “fear of retribution” that is in correlation with the College Board.

It has been revealed all over social media that all of the teens who posted the memes had no fear of the College Board and had decided to post them despite the threat.
