Journalism enrollment increases

After a year of relatively low enrollment in journalism classes at CHS, next year’s Journalism 1 class will be one of the largest classes the program has ever had.

Last year’s Journalism 1 class began the year with just 10 students, and while the class grew to 19 students by the end of the year, it was still a smaller group than journalism teacher Kelly Knarr would have liked. Next year, however, the program will have 38 Journalism 1 students—an improvement that Knarr attributes to the recruiting efforts of current journalism students.

“Thanks to the efforts of the current journalism students, more incoming freshmen and current CHS students are aware of the great opportunities that the journalism elective offers,” Knarr said.
