The CHS It’s Academic team reached the state semi-finals by advancing in a match against TC Williams High School and Georgetown Day.
“It felt good that all the hard work was paying off,” senior team captain Sam Gross said.
In that match CHS got nearly every question correct and ended up winning with a score of 545 points. Georgetown
Day came in second place, earning 370 points, while TC Williams came in last with 340 points.
In the semi-finals, however, CHS came in last place to Richard Montgomery and Blake High Schools.
“We were a little bit slower on the buzzer than the other two teams, but thataffected our performance in the buzzer rounds as opposed to the team rounds,” Gross said.
According to Gross, even though the team is out of the competition they will continue to practice and will hopefully move farther into the competition next year.
