Exchanging sweaters for hoodies, dresses for tie-dye sets and scarves for masks: fall fashion looks a little different in 2020 than years prior. The global pandemic that has rocked all of our worlds is also affecting the way we present ourselves and the trends that gain popularity. Here is a list of some of the most popular quarantine fashion trends that you will definitely begin seeing this fall.

Masks

Being the most out of the box accessory, it is only appropriate to kick off this list with face masks. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, masks were in high demand in order to protect yourself from the virus. However, eight months later, masks are plentiful and are sold at almost every clothing boutique or online store in a variety of patterns and fabrics. Fashionable masks can be worn to match your outfit and make staying safe fun and trendy.

Mask Chains

While on the topic of face masks, why not add a chain to accessorize it? Mask chains are practical, as they are able to hang around your neck when they are not in use, making it less likely to misplace your mask. They are also super fashionable and can be made out of beads or a simple chain. You can even DIY your own mask chain by following a simple YouTube tutorial.

Tie-Dye Sets

Gaining popularity during the lockdown that took place in March, matching tie-dye sets are the perfect comfy option to wear during online school. They can be DIYed as a fun fall activity or purchased at a variety of clothing boutiques, such as On Cloud 9. What’s fun about tie-dye sets is how versatile they can be; there are endless amounts of patterns and color combinations that can be made or purchased. And the best part is, you can wear them as pajamas too!

Workout Sets

From matching leggings and tank tops to tennis skirts, there are so many different athletic wear options on the market today. When COVID-19 set in, many people found themselves working out and taking better care of their bodies and with this came new workout gear. Wearing cute outfits will motivate you to workout and hit the gym, and they can also be worn as a normal everyday outfit.

Biker Shorts

Biker shorts are definitely a clothing piece that I never saw myself wearing last year. However, they can make an outfit trendy and as a bonus, they are extremely comfortable for everyday wear. These long, form fitting shorts are a super easy way to make it look like you put a lot of effort into your outfit. They can be paired with a crop top, sweatshirt or even a sweater and can be dressed up or down with the use of accessories. This fall, biker shorts have shown to be multi-functional and not just basic shorts to be worn when riding a bike.

Mom Jeans

Unlike the other items on this list, some fall fashion trends from 2019 are still in today. Last year, many people noticed that they could see their favorite celebrities or fashion models rocking looser fitting mom jeans, instead of skinny jeans that were popular years prior. As someone who prioritizes comfort when deciding what to wear, this new trend was something that excited me. Mom jeans can be worn around the house during online school, or they can be dressed up and worn for the fall holidays, like Thanksgiving. No matter what you wear on top, when paired with mom jeans, your outfit will surely look on trend.

Although 2020 has been a tough year with COVID-19, exploring new fashion trends and expressing your style is a great way to take your mind off of the negative events happening in the world. Whether you are trying out these comfy and practical trends or making up trends of your own, finding your own style can help you gain confidence and feel your best while cooped up inside.
