No matter the weather, it is always a good time for ice cream. Whether you are in the mood for a scoop of ice cream, a sundae, an ice cream sandwich or a milkshake, Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream has it all in a multitude of flavors.

Fortunately for ice cream lovers and fans of Sarah’s, they are now serving their locally sourced, original and small-batch ice cream in two locations in Bethesda. The second and newest location is in Wildwood Shopping Center on Old Georgetown Road.

Sarah’s Handmade is a mother-daughter business created by Sarah and Annie Park. Making ice cream started out as a hobby after Sarah retired in 2018 and it grew exponentially. She started off making ice cream for gatherings with her family and friends and soon people started to ask for more and more. Sarah and Annie opened their first storefront in April of 2019. It is located on River Road in Bethesda.

When you first walk into the Wildwood shop, the left side is a list of all the flavors with descriptions and pictures on clipboards lining the walls. On the ceiling there are 3 neon lines intertwining with each other. On the right you will see a display of books and games and further down the row of ice cream and toppings. On the wall there are the wood signs with different items and their prices along with a blackboard that has the day’s specials written in different colors.

The grand opening of their Wildwood location was from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11.  Their customers received a buy-one-get-one coupon for their next scoop and all online orders of $25 or more included a 12-flavor sampler.

The store also has taken many safety precautions so they could have a COVID-19 friendly grand opening as well as a safe environment. This includes limited customers inside, heightened cleaning protocols, tape on the ground to make sure everyone is social distancing, having hand sanitizer available and making sure everyone, including staff, has masks and face shields on at all times.

Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream offers contactless pickup as well as delivery if you are within four miles of the River Road store. From Sunday to Thursday, they are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m..

Sarah’s offers kiddie, single, double and triple scoops, pints, flights (5 kiddie scoops of any flavors of ice cream), cookie ice cream sandwiches, brownie ice cream sandwiches and a mini sandwich sampler. They also offer classic, cookie or brownie sundaes, banana splits, soda floats, bubble tea and custom ice cream pies and cakes.

Sarah’s provides ice cream for dogs too. You can purchase dog ice cream called “pup cups” for $4.39. It is made with all-natural ingredients and no added sugars.

They have an abundance of flavors: classics, tea-infused, seasonal, vegan options, sorbet and fruity flavors. Some of their flavors are cherry cobbler, coconut almond brownie, oreo lover, matcha green tea and much more.

Sarah’s Handmade Ice Cream is a great addition to Wildwood shopping center; it is the perfect place to go if you are craving good homemade ice cream.
