The ‘Observer’ interviews ‘Mr. Churchill’ contestants

The Mr. Churchill candiates were each posed with the following questions about their interests/hobbies, reason for entry, expectations of results and a fun fact about themselves.
Junior Nadim Elhage, 6’2”, 265 lbs.
•Enjoys looking at himself in the mirror, lifting weights.
•Entered “So girls will know my name and talk to me, and I will get invited to parties.”
•He wonders how long it will take the judges to declare him the winner.
•Many of his friends refer to him as “The Dream.”

Senior Leo Wang, 5’7”, 145 lbs.
•Enjoys working out, singing and writing music.
•“I am a returning contestant, had a blast last year, and wanted to participate again.”
•He does not care about results because he “loves the brotherhood he has built up.”
•His favorite clothing brand is the Gap and Banana Republic

Senior Josh Rosefelt, 5’8” 147.5 lbs.
•Enjoys being on Mock trial, being on the Daily Dose with Janey Asher, and slotcar tracks.
•“I think it will be a great experience to add to my high school career.”
•He thinks he will perform, and shall BE the show.
•He loves Saturday Night Live and comic books.
Senior Michael Manduley, 6’2”, 154 lbs.
•“My hobby is Pho. If you don’t know Pho you are ridiculously ignorant about your taste buds.”
•“My friends forced me to enter.”
•He does not really care about who wins, it is just a great experience.
•He loves being around all the other competitors. He gets all his support from his girlfriend, Christina Allen.

Junior Joe Haynes, 5’8”, 130 lbs.
•Enjoys “polishing his Mr. Churchill crown.”
•He feels that “he embodies everything Mr. Churchill should be.”
•He simply can’t picture himself losing.
•“I have the body sculpted to the degree of a Greek God.”
Senior Michael Mainwaring, 5’7”, 150 lbs.
•Enjoys singing, skateboarding, rollerblading, cooking and dancing.
•“I feel like I am different from everyone else and I want to stand out.”
•He is hoping for a win, and believes it will be easier because he is used to being on stage.
•He performs in Blast and enjoys any type of theater.

Junior Jack Rome, 5’8”, 150 lbs.
•Enjoys basketball skateboarding, rapping.
•“My friends encouraged me to sign up and I decided it was a good idea.”
•He isn’t worried about winning and just wants “to have a good time.”
•He has written many raps, including many that are published on Facebook.

•His favorite drink is cherry Flav H2O, and his favorite teacher is Mr. Russ.
Senior Sam Zeitlin, 5’11”, 165 lbs.
•Enjoys cooking hanging out with friends and watching movies.
•“I wanted to give back to the children. I thought it would be a good time.”
•He wants to win, but then again “it is just a male high school beauty pageant.”
•Works and has an internship at Redwood Bar and Grill.
