Sophomore Stephen Lee, juniors Raymond Li, Christopher Hazard ,and Russell McQueeney and senior Sharon Ong won awards at the 2011 Montgomery County Science Fair held March 18-20 at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Lee won awards from the Office of Naval Research and the Naval Research Lab.
Hazard and McQueeney won first place awards in the Mathematics
and Computer Science categories, respectively.
Hazard also won awards from the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Army Research Office, while McQueeney won awards from Intel and Yale Science and Engineering Association.
Li won awards from the American
Industrial Hygiene Association and MRIGlobal.
Ong won awards from the Biophysics
Society and U.S. Public Health Services
as well as an Honorable Mention for the Sigma Xi, FDA Chapter.
“The most exciting thing was anticipating
speaking and presenting my project to the judges, even though it is initially quite nerve wracking,” Ong said. “The most inspiring thing would be seeing the hundreds of other students and their projects at the fair. It is great to see so many young students have the same, if not more, passion for science than I do.”
